The Four Wonders of Huangshan

Huangshan is world-famous for its four wonders:

1.Strange Pines – The mountain's pines are tall and artistically shaped. The 1,500-year-old Greeting Guests Pine and the See-Guest-Off Pine have become symbols of faithfulness, resilience, and hospitality.

 2. Grotesque Rocks – Scattered across the mountain are countless oddly shaped rocks that spark the imagination.

 3. Sea of Clouds – For more than 200 days each year, mist and vapors coagulate to form a magnificent sea of clouds, making visitors feel as if they've stepped into a fairyland.

 4. Hot Springs – Natural hot springs add to the mountain's therapeutic and scenic appeal.

A Mountain That Surpasses All Others

Huangshan holds the charms of all other famous mountains in China. It is as magnificent as Mount Taishan, as precipitous as Mount Huashan, as graceful as Mount Emei, and features the misty clouds of Mount Hengshan, the delicate rocks of Mount Yandang, and the pouring waterfalls of Mount Lushan.

The famous Ming Dynasty traveler and geologist Xu Xiake visited Huangshan twice and praised it by saying: "Once on top of Mount Huangshan, one finds no other match – This is the acme!" This gave rise to the famous Chinese saying: "Trips to the Five Sacred Mountains render trips to other mountains unnecessary, and a trip to Huangshan renders trips to the Five Sacred Mountains unnecessary."

Culturally, Huangshan is the cradle of an influential school of landscape painting and preserves over 200 delicate cliff inscriptions from past dynasties. The mountain has welcomed and integrated diverse cultural ideologies throughout history.
